Computational Methods for Railway Bridges Presented at CIVIL-COMP 2025

September 4, 2025

InBridge4EU researchers introduced innovative computational solutions at the CIVIL-COMP 2025 conference that took place in Cagliari, Italy, in late August. Four papers were presented in the  “Railway Research and Technology Development” special session, co-organised by the project coordinator, Pedro Montenegro (UPORTO).

In the session held during the morning of August 29th, Josep Chordà-Monsonís (UJI) presented a Study of the Soil-Structure Interaction on a Portal Frame Railway Bridge Through Experimental Validation”, developed in collaboration with UdS team members. The two institutions were also represented by Juan Carlos Sánchez-Quesada, with the work titled “Assessment of Ballast Stability in Multi-Span Simply-Supported Girder Bridges for Increasing Operational Speeds”.

Later, Gonçalo Ferreira (UPORTO) introduced “A New Algorithm To Determine Critical Speeds on Ballasted High-Speed Railway Bridges”. Lastly, Pedro Montenegro shared “Updated Damping Guidelines for Railway Bridges: Insights From the InBridge4EU Project”, developed in collaboration with AVLS.
