José María Goicolea delivers keynote address at ICATTI 2026

July 2, 2026

José María Goicolea (UPM) delivered a keynote presentation at the International Conference on Advanced Transport Technology and Infrastructure (ICATTI 2026), held on 25 June in Hanoi, Vietnam. His invited address showcased more than three decades of research on railway bridge dynamics and highlighted how recent findings from the InBridge4EU project are contributing to the evolution of European engineering codes.

The keynote reviewed challenges associated with the dynamic behaviour of railway bridges under high-speed traffic and the methods available to assess them. The presentation featured several outcomes of the InBridge4EU project, including work on railway bridge damping, Dynamic Train Categories (DTCs), and the assessment of hundreds of bridges across Europe. These contributions support ongoing efforts to improve interoperability and refine the dynamic provisions of European railway bridge standards.
